Kiah M. Wesson, M.Ed, LPC

Mansfield Clinical Director

The world sometimes makes it seem that pregnancy and parenting are meant to be filled with pure joy. Yet, what if our experience does not match the vision we had for motherhood? Bringing life into this world and watching our children grow can be the most beautiful journey any person can pursue. At the same time, intrusive thoughts are real. Birth trauma is real. Navigating conflict with partners and family is real. Anxiety, depression, or simply struggling to find joy in pregnancy and motherhood is real. As a therapist, my goal is to create a validating space to normalize my client's experiences, helping them to create a life of balance and fulfillment.
I have my Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling at the University of Texas at Dallas with the hope of working with adolescents and families. While I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral and Solutions-Focused therapy, I believe in creating a therapeutic experience that is uniquely catered towards your individual needs. You already have the strength within you to overcome any obstacle that life may bring. I look forward to going on the journey with you to use those strengths to flourish.

Having a baby is supposed to be the happiest time of a couple’s life according to society, but the truth is having a baby can change your self-esteem, mental health and hormones, time, energy, and more. All of these changes can negatively impact your relationship with your children, your partner, and yourself. I am here to help you and your family navigate this new change and rediscover your relationships.

As a Dallas native, I earned my Master’s in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Methodist University, where I gained a solid theoretical foundation in Emotion Focused Therapy and Gottman methods. Additionally, I speak Spanish and have worked with clients that were more comfortable expressing themselves in Spanish than in English. I have a few specializations including Couples Counseling, Relationship Enhancement, Premarital Counseling, Parent-Child Relational Therapy, and Stress and Anxiety Management.

I have been passionate about families and marriages since I was a little girl because I witnessed first-hand how negative relationships in families and marriages can impact your mental and physical health. As a Family and Marriage Therapist Associate, my goal is to provide a judge-free and empathic space to guide couples, parents, families, and individuals towards achieving healthier, more fulfilling relationships, and therefore enhancing your life. I am committed to helping clients rediscover their strengths, overcome obstacles, and develop the skills needed to foster lasting connections and emotional well-being.
